Getting the results

Jun 10, 2016 | Back on the Bike

I’ve done it! On 5th June 2016 I completed the British Heart Foundation 50 mile bike ride after not having properly ridden a bike for at least 15 years. I have the certificate and medal to prove it!!! And the spring in my step!

The sacrifices, juggling and costs were all really worth it. All the cold, wet training rides were worth it! And the falling off!

I completed it in 3 hours 34 minutes. I am so proud of that time. I had been aiming for and hoping for, completing it in 5 hours. The feeling of not only having done it, but having completed it in a time I’m proud of, and still being able to move, was great! It has given me so much more than just the sense of achievement. It has improved things for me in lots of areas of my life, but one of the most important things is just a feeling in my core, a strong belief in my ability to be able do something challenging, and grow from it. It has given me the oomph back in my world, that I now realise had been running on reserve levels for quite a while. I think these photos capture my feelings at having completed it:

I felt on top of the world. Energised. Proud to have achieved a goal that was for me. The feeling of success.
