Wellbeing Workshops

Caring Without Burning Out: Compassion Fatigue & Emotional Load

Supporting yourself while supporting others.

This two-part workshop is designed for those in emotionally demanding roles, whether in health, education, social care, or other caring professions. It provides a safe, supportive space to explore the emotional impact of your work, recognise early warning signs of compassion fatigue, and develop realistic, personalised self-care strategies.

What the workshop covers:

  • The emotional load of caring work—and how it shows up in your body, mood, and relationships
  • How to recognise your own early signs and triggers of stress, exhaustion, and compassion fatigue
  • Practical, down-to-earth self-care strategies that actually work in real life
  • A flexible wellbeing framework to help you find practices that suit your role, preferences, and lifestyle
  • Opportunities to try simple techniques during the session, and share reflections (if you wish)

How it Works

This workshop can be delivered as:

  • Two sessions (minimum 60 minutes each)
  • Or as an expanded version, tailored to your team’s needs (e.g. longer sessions, added depth, or wellbeing day content).

Available online or in person.

As part of our All-Staff Wellbeing Day, Sam delivered talks on Practical Self-Care for Caring Professionals and Carrying the Emotional Load of Caring for Others. Sam spoke about acknowledging workplace stresses, burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma that can affect people in support roles can face.

Sam encouraged staff to take some personal reflection time around their roles and reflecting on their own emotional loads and offered tools for helping to manage these. Sam’s workshops were engaging and really sensitive to some of the difficulties workers in support roles face.

Sam had a wealth of knowledge to share and staff feedback was really positive, with many people saying that they felt better equipped with tools to help them manage their emotional loads and more confidence recognising burnout and fatigue and being able to voice this. We look forward to working with Sam again. (Julian Support)
