Managing the Motherload

Jan 23, 2019 | Ask Sam, Parenthood, Well-being, Women at work

I am absolutely thrilled to be included in the March issue of Mother & Baby magazine, as a featured expert, talking about managing the motherload. Mother & Baby Magazine March 2019 Issue

The Mother & Baby magazine approached me and asked if I could work with them to bring together a feature that would help mums manage the chaos of their lives and change their perception of their situation, with practical tips that you can apply into your everyday life. Thank you to Marie & Vicki, who shared their tips too.

Becoming a parent changes you as a person and your whole world. It brings with it so many precious moments, that you want to treasure for life; and also can be some of the most challenging moments too. For me these words from Sheryl Sandberg sum it up perfectly:

“The birth of a child instantly changes how we define ourselves. Women become mothers. Men become fathers. Couples become parents. Our priorities shift in fundamental ways. Parenting may be the most rewarding experience, but it is also the hardest and most humbling.” – Sheryl Sandberg, Lean In

I am passionate about supporting women to adjust to these changes, and create a life mix that allows you to flourish, rather than feel like you are sinking underneath all the piles of washing up, laundry and life admin. In my experience some of the biggest challenges women can face are:

  • feeling that they do not have enough hours in the day to do everything that needs doing
  • feeling that they are not doing things well enough
  • the way that they think about themselves

In the feature, I share some easy to use strategies that will allow you to start feeling like you are in control of your time, rather than being at the mercy of what life throws at you. I also share some ways that you can start being kinder to yourself in the way that you think and act.

If you feel like you would like someone to listen and help you untangle the load that you are carrying around in your head, and help you find a clear way forward, book yourself a session with me. If you can’t meet me in person, we can do the next best thing, and connect online with a video call (messenger, whatsapp, facetime, skype). Don’t disappear under the motherload, let me help you become the boss mama you know you can be.

And if you would love to connect with other women doing their best to juggle life and all it throws at you, the highs and the lows, come and join in the conversations in my facebook community, Cup of Tea & Clarity. We’d love to meet you.
